Why does my sign appear to be offline or not working?
Last updated: April 15, 2026
Context
Your dashboard is showing no recent activity for a zone, or a sign's status suggests it may be offline. You want to know what's happening and what to do.
Answer
Autolane monitors sign health remotely, and in many cases the team is already aware of and working on the issue. If you haven't received any communication, reach out to your Autolane representative or email support@goautolane.com.
Common reasons a sign may appear offline:
Signal interruption. The sign's cellular connection may temporarily drop. This is usually transient and resolves automatically. Data queues locally and uploads when connectivity resumes.
Battery depletion. If the solar panel hasn't received adequate sunlight, the backup battery may run low. Autolane monitors battery levels remotely and dispatches maintenance when needed.
Firmware update. Occasionally camera firmware needs an update, causing a brief period where the sign appears offline.
Camera coordinate offset. If GPS coordinates don't precisely match the zone, the camera may miss arrivals or capture drive-by vehicles. Autolane can adjust coordinates remotely.
What to do:
Note the sign location and approximately when you first noticed the issue.
Contact your Autolane representative, email support@goautolane.com, or submit a ticket through your Autolane portal.
Autolane will investigate remotely and dispatch a local Autolane City Manager if physical maintenance is needed.
Expected resolution: Most issues are identified remotely within hours and resolved within 24 to 48 hours.
