What data does Autolane collect and is my privacy protected?

Last updated: April 15, 2026

Context

You're concerned about what the cameras on the Autolane signs are actually capturing, whether that includes surveillance footage, facial recognition, or any personal data.

Answer

Autolane's system collects only autonomous vehicle activity data. Here's exactly what is and isn't collected:

What IS collected:

  1. Vehicle type (Waymo, Tesla Robotaxi, etc.)

  2. Entry and exit timestamps for each vehicle session.

  3. Session duration (dwell time).

  4. Zone occupancy status (occupied or vacant).

What is NOT collected:

  1. No footage of pedestrians or people.

  2. No license plate data.

  3. No facial recognition.

  4. No tracking of non-autonomous vehicles.

  5. No audio recording.

  6. No personal information of any kind.

The AI vision model is specifically trained to identify known autonomous vehicle types. All other movement, including regular cars, people walking by, and cyclists, is filtered out and not stored.

Data access is limited to your property management team (via the Autolane dashboard) and the Autolane operations team. Your property's data will not be shared with anyone outside of your organization.

Autolane is completing SOC 2 Type 1 certification (targeted May 2026) to formalize its security and data handling practices. The Autolane Trust Center is live at trustcenter.goautolane.com.
