(For Tenants) What are the Autolane signs at my property?

Last updated: April 15, 2026

Context

You're a tenant at an Autolane-equipped property and have noticed new signs at curbside locations, or received a communication from property management about them. You want to understand what they are, how they work, and whether they affect your business.

Answer

What's happening

Your property has partnered with Autolane to install designated pickup and drop-off zones for autonomous vehicles, including Waymo and Tesla Robotaxi. You may have already noticed the signs at curbside locations on the property.

These signs mark the exact spot where autonomous vehicles should pull up for passenger pickups, drop-offs, and deliveries. Without designated zones, AVs stop wherever their system tells them, often in inconvenient locations. Autolane zones keep things organized and predictable for tenants and visitors.

How the signs work

Each sign uses AI to detect when an autonomous vehicle arrives or departs. The system only tracks autonomous vehicles. It does not record pedestrians, regular cars, license plates, or any personal information. There is no surveillance of any kind.

The signs are freestanding with weighted bases. Nothing has been drilled into or permanently modified on the property.

What this means for your business

  1. Organized AV traffic. Visitors arriving by Waymo or Tesla Robotaxi are dropped off at a clearly marked spot instead of a random location that could block your storefront or loading area.

  2. A Direct Delivery hub. Each Autolane zone also acts as a Direct Delivery hub for tenants who want to explore autonomous delivery for their businesses. Autonomous vehicles can pick up orders from your store at the designated zone and deliver them to customers, offering a new fulfillment channel at a fraction of the cost of traditional delivery services.

  3. No cost or action required. All hardware, installation, and maintenance is managed by Autolane and your property management team. There is nothing you need to do.

If you notice something with the signs

If a sign appears to have been knocked over, shifted by wind, or seems out of place, don't worry. Autolane monitors sign health remotely and has a local operations team that handles maintenance.
